RINL Achieves Impressive Growth: Shri P.K. Rath CMD

Visakhapatnam: RINL, Visakhapatnam Steel Plant celebrated the 70th Republic Day with patriotic fervour in Ukkunagaram on 26th January 2019. Shri P.K. Rath, CMD, RINL unfurled the National Flag, took the salute and inspected the guard of honour accorded by the CISF Jawans, Home Guards, school children of Ukkunagaram at the sprawling Trishna Grounds in the township.
 
Addressing a large number of employees and their family members, Shri Rath observed that the Steel Industry, the backbone of the Indian economy, is on a path of recovery. The Crude Steel production during 2018 was around 105 mt and India became the 2nd highest producer of Crude Steel presently.  He said that the Govt of India is providing the necessary fillip in promoting the utilization of steel for development. The GoI initiatives like huge infrastructure spending, housing for all, smart city mission, National Highway projects etc would spur steel demand in the country, he added.
 
Shri Rath said that RINL on its part is contributing its mite in nation building. The expansion programme of capacity enhancement to 6.3 MTPA has been completed and production ramped up significantly. The modernization plan to 7.3 MTPA has also been completed and the facilities are being put in operation, he added. Sri Rath mentioned that the production witnessed impressive growth in all fronts. The Hot Metal, Liquid Steel and Saleable Steel production grew by 20%, 19% and 17% respectively during the current financial year. The captive power generation recorded a growth of 23%, labour productivity by 17%, Pulverized Coal Injection (PCI) by 32%, Specific water consumption by 6% etc during the year. He congratulated RINL collective for exhibiting their excellence. Sri Rath called upon the employees to demonstrate their capabilities and achieve the targets set for the current financial year and he expressed the hope that RINL would bounce back to profits during the year.
 
Shri KC Das, Director (Personnel), Shri VV Venugopal Rao, Director (Finance), Shri PJ Vijayakar, CVO, Smt Sarada Rath, President of Visteel Mahila Samiti, Shri Irfan Ahmed, Commandant, CISF, Executive Directors, GMs, Senior Officers, representatives of SEA, Unions, SC&ST Association, Visteel Mahila Samiti, WIPS and large number of employees participated in the celebrations.
 
School children of Ukkunagaram presented a scintillating dance performance depicting Gram Swaraj, Swachh Bharat to mark the occasion. The CISF special Commandos also exhibited their skills and demonstration in combating the attacks, highlight of the event.
