Shivraj Singh Lauded NCL and Coal India

New Delhi: Shri Shivraj Singh, Senior Manager (Corporate Planning) of Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) has earned laurels not only for him but also for NCL and its holding company Coal India Limited (CIL). He has scored the frist rank in the 'Executive Diploma in Project Management' (EDPM) program of the International Institute of Project and Program Management (IIP2M), and honoured with the best student. Having received this accolade, he has gained the scholarship of Rs. 2.65 Lakhs from I2P2M, with the help of which he will participate in the "Advanced Project Management Concepts and Best Practices" program at the University of Washington, USA from October 22 to 26, 2018.
 
Shri Singh was part of CIL’s 10-member team, which participated in the EDPM program and the team of Coal India has also secured first position as the best team in this program's Project Management Simulation module. Shri T K A Nair, Advisor to the former Prime Minister of India and Shri Gurdeep Singh, CMD, NTPC presented the award to Shri Singh and Team CIL at a gala function held in New Delhi.
 
NCL, CMD Shri P.K. Sinha and the company's Functional directors have congratulated Shri Singh and Team CIL for their remarkable achievements and have reiterated that the company will make all possible efforts for the training of such special talented officers and employees so that the company could reach to new pinnacles with their outstanding capabilities.
 
In the EDPM program, 188 participants took part from various organizations across the world, which were divided into different teams. Training on the four different Modules of Project
 
Management, namely, Project Management Principles, Project Management Simulations, Project Risk Management and Advanced Project Management were imparted to the participants. For this, 3-day pieces of training were given in every month from June to September 2018. Then, the Centre for Excellence in Project Management in association with the University of Washington and the Prendo Simulations, United Kingdom conducted the written tests in three of these modules. In this written examination, Senior Manager (Corporate Planning), NCL, Shri Shivraj Singh stood first and fetched the title of Best Student, while Coal India team got first position as Best Team in Project Management Simulation Modules. Coal India, DRDO, RITES, GAIL, NTPC were some of the Indian companies and entities participated in the program.
 
One of the biggest factors in the development of the mega-economies of the world is that they fulfil the requirement of the project for the development of the country, not only in the due time but also keeping the project in check with due safety and interests of stakeholders. Project Management has become a major topic in the current socioeconomic scenario. Coal India is also working on some of the biggest coal mining projects for the development of the nation. In such an age of competition, getting the first position among participants and teams from national and international organizations in the project management program is a proud moment for NCL and Coal India family.
