BCPL Staff Welfare Committee organized Shradhanjali Anusthan
Assam: BCPL Staff Welfare Committee organized Shradhanjali Anusthan on 5th November 2019 to mark the 8th death anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, the legendary musician, lyricist, singer and film maker. The event was organized in BCPL Township, Barbaruah and commenced with lighting of earthen lamps and offering rich floral tributes before the portrait of Dr Bhupen Hazarika by the senior officials of BCPL. A cultural programme was also organized to commemorate the works of Sudhakantha.
Shri A K Singh, Managing Director of BCPL was the chief guest of the evening and senior officials of the company along with employees and their family members were also present on the occasion.
Singers Shri Ram Sashoni and Smt Runjun Phukan from Dibrugarh who had close acquaintance with Dr. Hazarika were special invitees. Shri Sashoni and Smt Phukan shared their experiences of working with the Bard and mesmerized the audience with their renditions.
The event was an amalgamation of performances by BCPL employees and their family members comprising of chorus, solo performances, dance and flute recital. The special invitees were also felicitated with a Phoolam Gamosa, citation and a xophura on the occasion for their contribution to music of Assam.
