Green Visakha Project: RINL on the last leg

Visakhapatnam: The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Environment & Forests headed by Dr T Subbarami Reddy requested the major corporates in the city to provide a green environment through the planting of trees in various parts of the city and suburbs during five years. The major corporates including RINL-Visakhapatnam Steel Plant headed the advice of the Parliamentary Committee and started the plantation drive in the city.
Accordingly, RINL-Visakhapatnam Steel Plant was given the target of planting 4,50,000  saplings to provide a green cover in the city limits and also in and around the plant premises over a period of five years.
So far, plantation of 3.79 lakh saplings were completed in Parawada,  Aganampudi,  Lemarthi, Gangavaram and Andhra University areas.
To complete the target of planting 4.50 lakh saplings, planting of remaining 50,000 in Bheemili and in the nearby areas and 21,000 saplings in Gajuwaka-Anakapalle areas started today. Shri PK Rath, CMD, RINL congratulated the Agro-Forestry Department for completing the targets set for RINL by the District Administration.
