PM Dedicates 400 KV Double Circuit Silchar– Imphal Transmission Line to the Nation

Manipur: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi dedicated the 400kV Double Circuit Silchar-Imphal transmission line constructed by Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (POWERGRID) to the Nation 4th January 2019, in the presence of Chief Minister of Manipur, Shri N. Biren Singh, Speaker of the Manipur Assembly, Shri Yumnam Khemchand Singh and other dignitaries from the state and centre.
 
Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister stated that the line would remove the problem of power cuts of Manipur and that state is on the path of progress. 
 
This project is the first 400kV power infrastructure in the state of Manipur and is of high importance for the entire North-East region in general and Manipur in particular. This project shall cater to the long-term power requirement of the State of Manipur and shall improve the voltage profile in the State. The State would now also be able to draw its share of power from Pallatana and Bongaigaon generation projects.
 
The 334 circuit kilometre long 400kV Double Circuit (D/C) Silchar-Imphal transmission line project has been constructed with a total cost of about ?749 crore. The line was initially charged at 132kV voltage level, and subsequently energized to 400kV voltage level in December 2018.
 
POWERGRID was represented by Smt. Seema Gupta, Director (Operations), Shri Anil Jain, Executive Director (Corporate Planning), Shri B. Anantha Sarma, Chief General Manager (Incharge) of North Eastern Region, Shri Anoop Kumar, Chief General Manager of NERPSIP and other senior officials.
