BPCL partners with Volks Energie to build LFP based solar power plant
State-run Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited has partnered with Volks Energie to establish India’s first solar power plant featuring Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) designed for oil and gas pipeline operations. This pioneering project will cover 14 strategic locations across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Volks Energie will deploy a combined battery capacity of 1.6 MWh, with Engineers India Limited overseeing the project as a consultant. The use of LFP batteries ensures enhanced safety, a longer lifespan, and superior energy density compared to conventional battery technologies.
Advanced safety features, such as automatic fire suppression systems, will safeguard sensitive equipment at the pipeline stations, further fortifying the project’s reliability.
