GRSE signs MoU with Sea Explorers’ Institute for Clean Hooghly River Initiative

New Delhi: State-run Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Ltd (GRSE) has signed a MoU with Sea Explorers’ Institute (SEI), Kolkata for the Clean Hooghly River Initiative. The MoU has been signed under a CSR initiative taken by the company.

The MoU was signed by Shri Rajeev Shrivastava, GM (HR&A), GRSE and Dr. Sudeshna Chatterjee, Secretary General, SEI.

This unique pilot project adopts a community-driven approach, raising awareness against littering from 10 identified Ghats and engaging local fishermen and boats to physically clean the river using nets, bamboos, and boats.

Sea Explorers’ Institute, a voluntary, non-profiting organization came into existence in 1987. The basic purpose was to draw the attention of the youth towards river and sea with the objective to observe and study Maritime Nature. The aim was also to encourage the spirit of adventure and sponsor scientific exploration.
