New Delhi, February 20, 2026: Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, Hon’ble Union Minister of Communications & Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), conducted an interactive session with 30 Postal Assistants (PAs) and Sorting Assistants (SAs) from different postal circles at Sanchar Bhawan, New Delhi. The session was held in the presence of senior officials including the Secretary (Posts) and Director General (Posts).

During the session, the Hon’ble Minister recognized PAs and SAs as the backbone of India Post, emphasizing their pivotal role in ensuring last-mile connectivity and delivering essential citizen services across the country.

  1. Role of PAs and SAs:
    Shri Scindia highlighted that Postal Assistants and Sorting Assistants are central to the operational efficiency of India Post, managing mail delivery, sorting, and citizen-centric services, particularly in rural and remote areas.

  2. Infrastructure and Technological Initiatives:
    The Minister emphasized the Department’s efforts to modernize operations, including:

    • First-mile and last-mile parcel infrastructure to enhance logistics efficiency.

    • PIN code-based solutions for better routing and service reliability.

    • Expansion and enhancement of Next-Gen Post Offices (N-Gen PO) equipped with modern technology for customer convenience.

  3. Operational Excellence and Customer-Centric Reforms:
    Shri Scindia stressed the need for continuous process improvements, adoption of modern technology, and staff empowerment to deliver faster, more reliable services. He encouraged employees to actively engage in innovation and efficiency improvements within their respective roles.

  4. Vision for India Post:
    Reaffirming the Department’s commitment, the Minister highlighted that these initiatives aim to make India Post a modern, technology-enabled, and customer-centric organization while maintaining its extensive network and social outreach responsibilities.

The session concluded with the Minister acknowledging the efforts of postal employees and encouraging them to continue their service with dedication, innovation, and a focus on enhancing citizen satisfaction.
