ISRO has signed MoUs with Indian's premier Technical Institutes such as  NIT Rourkela; VNIT, Nagpur, and MANIT for setting up  'Space Tech Incubation Centre' on their campus

New Delhi: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is planning to set up a 'Space Tech Incubation Centre' at the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela.  NIT-Rourkela is a publicly funded premier institute of higher learning for engineering, science, and technology located in the steel city of Rourkela, Odisha.

For this, an MoU was signed between ISRO and NIT-Rourkela on Friday. "With this collaboration, ISRO will open up new opportunities for research and development as well as space start-ups," an NIT, Rourkela official said.

The Tech Incubation Centre set up by the IRSO will facilitate, encourage, and promote capacity building, innovations, and research activities in the whole of the Eastern Region of our country comprising Odisha, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Andaman and Nicobar. This S-TIC will enable start-ups to build applications and products that could be used in future space missions.

Chairman, ISRO and Secretary Department of Space Dr. K Sivan congratulated NIT Rourkela on this occasion. He also highlighted that space technology-related research and the products from the STIC will be utilised in future space missions and it will help nation-building through Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan in the space technology and applications domain.

ISRO had also signed bilateral MoU with Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur (for the Western region) and Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology, Bhopal (for Central region) for setting up the Space Technology Incubation Centre in their campus.
