MCL approved rs 2.94 crore for pendals in 31 tribal villages
New Delhi: Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) has approved Rs 2.94 crore for construction of "open pendals" at 31 villages in tribal-dominated Hemgir, Tangarpali and Sadar blocks of Sundergarh district in Odisha.
Locally termed as ‘Mondap’, it serves as a common place for social interactions and community events. Each pendal is conceptualised as a raised rectangular platform with roof having tiled flooring and steel railings. A CSR Initiative in association with Sundergarh district administration.
