Assam: NRL joins hands with CSIR-NEIST for enhancing engineering and technological competence on its R&D effort. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) between NRL and CSIR-NEIST was signed on 21st October 2020, to develop a framework for collaboration between NRL and CSIR-NEIST.

Numaligarh Refinery is located at Morangi, Golaghat district, Assam in India is a refinery owned by Numaligarh Refinery Limited, a joint venture between Bharat Petroleum (61.65%), Oil India (26%) and Govt of Assam (12.35%). As of 2014, it had a capacity of 3 million metric tonnes per year. In January 2019, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved plans to increase the refinery's capacity to 9 million metric tonnes per year.

 

North East Institute of Science and Technology (NEIST) Jorhat (formerly Regional Research Laboratory) is a constituent establishment of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), a premier R&D organisation of India, which has a chain of laboratories across the country. This laboratory was established in 1961 under the chemical science group of CSIR and originally its main aim was to develop indigenous technologies by utilising the immense natural resources of northeastern India like Petroleum, Natural Gas, Minerals, Tea, Aromatic and Medicinal plants.
