New industrial training institute to be set up in Neyveli township
Neyveli: The Bhoomi Pooja for the civil works for an ITI planned to be established at Neyveli was performed on 21-08-2020 in the presence of Shri R.Vikraman, Director/HR, NLCIL at Block-12, Neyveli.
NLC India Limited, a Navratna PSU, will be establishing an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) at Neyveli Township at an estimated cost of Rs.650 lakhs for the benefit of the wards of Project Affected Persons and youngsters residing at surrounding villages for providing practical skills which will enable them to obtain relevant jobs in industries/factories.
The existing NLC Middle School building and its premises in Block-12, Neyveli will be used for the ITI. The Bhoomi Pooja for the Civil works to suitably modify and renovate the existing School Building into an ITI, was performed on 21.08.2020 in the august presence of Shri R. Vikraman, Director/HR. Senior officials of Township Administration Department and Learning & Development Centre, NLCIL also participated in the Bhoomi Pooja.
The proposed ITI will offer Technical courses in the Fitter, Welder, Electrician and Refrigeration & Air Conditioning trades with an emphasis on Practical training. The ITI will commence the academic session from August 2021.
The new ITI will be provided with infrastructure facilities which includes 4 new Workshop Sheds of 150 Sq. Metres area each, a Multipurpose Hall of 120 Sq.metres area, 10 Classrooms of 30 Sq. Metres each, an Administrative Block consisting of rooms for the Principal, Office, Accountant, Waiting Hall etc., Computer Laboratory, Library, Canteen, Dining Hall, Store rooms, Vehicle parking facilities and Internal road facilities.The estimated cost for civil works including electrical fittings and accessories is Rs.384 lakhs. The civil works for the above infrastructural facilities is expected to be completed by January 2021.
NLCIL Management has always accorded paramount importance for promotion of education and has been fulfilling the learning requirements of students in a phased manner. With the establishment of an ITI, the long felt need for a quality Institution to empower and equip youngsters with Industry-relevant skill training to secure a better livelihood for the rural youth will be served, in accordance with the Skill India Mission of Government of India.
