New Delhi: On being declared as a successful bidder under Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB), Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) on 9th March 2021 has acquired Ramgarh New Transmission Limited (RNTL) which is the Project company to establish Transmission System Strengthening Scheme for the evacuation of power from solar energy zones, in Rajasthan (8.1 GW) under phase II – Part A.

The project comprises the establishment of 400/220 kV new sub-station, 400 kV D/C transmission lines and associated sub-station extension works under build, own, operate and maintain (BOOM) basis for 35 years. The transmission system is an Inter-State Transmission System project situated in the state of Rajasthan and is scheduled to be completed in 18 months.

During the FY 2020-21, bidding for five Inter-State Transmission Projects has been undertaken till date and POWERGRID has been declared as the successful bidder in all five projects.

Acquisition of Ramgarh New Transmission Limited is the first in the series of five projects and acquisition of the remaining four project companies is underway. 

Now the PGCIL owns 100 percent equity in the RNTL. It shall be engaged in the business of transmission of power. The transmission system (RNTL) comprises the establishment of a new 400/220kV Substation, 400kV DIC Transmission lines, and associated Substation extension works in Rajasthan. The transmission system is an Inter-State Transmission System Project and is to be completed in 18 month.
