SJVN achieved power generation of 9346 Million Units

Shimla: Power Stations of SJVN achieved highest ever cumulative generation of 9678 Million Units in the financial year 2019-20, the previous best being financial year 2015-16 when SJVN achieved power generation of 9346 Million Units.

Sh. Nand Lal Sharma, Chairman & Managing Director, while congratulating SJVN employees for this accomplishment informed that the present installed capacity of SJVN is 2015.2 MW, which includes 1912 MW of Hydro Power, 97.6 MW of Wind Power and 5.6 MW of Solar Power. Against the MoU Target of 9100 Million Units for Financial Year 2019-20 SJVN’s Power Station generated 9678 Million Units. He exhorted all the employees to work tirelessly to provide 24X7 power to the nation in the testing times aroused from the spread of COVID-19.
 
He further said that owing to excellent operation & maintenance of 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station, which is the country’s largest underground power house and 412 MW Rampur Hydro Power Station, SJVN is able to set this new record of highest ever generation. The design energy of 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri is 6612 Million Units and 412 MW Rampur HPS is 1878 Million Units, while these power station generated 7445 Million Units and 2098 Million Units respectively. These power stations achieved design energy in the Month of December,2019.
He further added, based on excellent performance of Power Stations, SJVN has declared an interim dividend Rs. 668 Crores to its shareholders. While, till date company has paid Rs.7356.56 crore as dividend to its shareholders.
 
Sh. Sharma informed that Hydro Power is core competence of Team SJVN and presently the construction activities of 60 MW Naitwar Mori Hydro Electric Project are on full swing in the state of Uttarakhand. He further informed that with our great efforts in Nepal, we were able to achieve the Financial Closure of 900 MW Arun 3 Hydro Electric Project on 6th February, 2020. For development of this Hydro Project the company will be investing approximately Rs. 6959 crore in Nepal over the next five years.
 
Sh. Sharma said that, SJVN has also diversified into Thermal Power Generation and in the month of March 2019, Hon’ble Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of our 1320 MW Buxar Thermal power Plant in Buxar, Bihar. The construction activities of this project are on full swing and SJVN is planning to commission this project in financial year 2023-24.
 
He said that SJVN is pursuing Power Projects in India and in neighboring countries & SJVN is also in talks with Government of Nepal and Government of Arunachal Pradesh to tap hydro potential in their territories. He further informed that SJVN has recently entered into MoUs with Government of Himachal Pradesh for implementation of Eight (8) Hydro Projects. The total capacity of these projects is 2388 MW and the development of these projects involves investment of Rs. 24,000 crores.
 
Sh. Nand Lal Sharma asserted that company which started with a single hydro project in the year 1988, today has portfolio of 7489.2 MW, out of which 2015.2 MW is under operation, 2880 MW is under construction, 482 MW is under pre-construction & investment approval and 2112 MW is under survey & investigation stage. The company has also diversified in other fields of energy generation & transmission. While reiterating his belief in Team SJVN, he said that SJVN is vigorously marching forward for achieving installed capacity of 5000 MW by 2023, 12000 MW by 2030 and 25000 MW by year 2040.
