TCIL spends rs 60 lakh to develop Bihar marchi village under CSR program
NEW DELHI: State-run Telecommunications Consultants India Limited (TCIL) has carried out developmental work in parts of Bihar, as a part of its Corporate Responsibility (CSR) program and developed basic facilities at Marchi village in Patna at an spend of Rs 60 lakh.
“The development work at Marchi village have been undertaken by TCIL, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Ministry of Communications under its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative,” the Delhi-based telecom engineering firm in a statement said.
Last week, Telecom, IT and Law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad laid the foundation stone at Surya Temple in Village Marchi in Patna for the developmental work carried out by TCIL.Kumar said that the state-controlled company is also setting up an IT training centre in Patna for local youth who may also be employed at one of TCIL’s several international projects in Middle East and African countries.
TCIL is currently running e-Network program funded by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to offer tele-education and tele-medicine services in the African continent, in addition to robust presence in the Middle East region.
The firm is also converting 1,34,000 rural post offices into digital banking hubs, as a part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government’s financial inclusion initiative. TCIL has posted provisional operating turnover in September, 2019 of Rs 700.41 crore for 2019-20 against Rs 625.09 crore for the same period a year ago.
