AAI completes construction of second airport in Jharkhand 'Deoghar Airport'
New Delhi: Airport Authority of India completed the construction of Deoghar Airport which will be the second airport in Jharkhand after Ranchi. The airport is spread over 654 acres (265 ha) and constructed to handle Airbus A320 and A321 types of aircraft.
AAI proposed to build the airport at a cost of Rs 400 crore. It includes the construction of the runway, having a length of 2,500 m (8,200 ft) and 45 m (148 ft) wide, construction of a 4,000-square-metre (43,000 sq ft) terminal building to handle 200 passengers per hour
Today, Sh. Sanjeev Kumar, Chairman, AAI, Sh. A.K. Pathak, Member (Planning), Sh. Manoj Gangal, RED (ER), and Sh. O. P. Chugh, ED (Engg-ER) visited the airport site.
The team led by Chairman inspected the airport terminal building, air site, and other facilities. The outer design of the airport is inspired by the structure of the famous Baba Baidyanath Temple.
Airport director Sh. Sandeep Kumar Dhingra was also present at the time of inspection.
