Bengaluru-based Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) has announced the contract signing with the Indian Navy for the implementation of National Maritime Domain Awareness (NMDA) Project in order to strengthen the maritime and coastal security.

The project is going to be executed on ‘Turnkey Basis’ and will be under the administration of the Indian Navy. An integrated approach will be given by project for data collation, analysis and information sharing amongst the various maritime stakeholders.

The project includes the upgradation of the existing National Command, Control, Communication and Intelligence Network to NMDA Network along with incorporation of AI-enabled software.

The existing Information Management and Analysis Centre (IMAC) at Gurugram which is a nodal centre of NCCCI will also be upgraded to Multi-Modal Agency of NMDA Centre hosting representatives from various national agencies.

Shares of BEL are trading down by 0.76% at Rs 418.75. The stock opened today at Rs 423.95 and reached an intraday high of Rs 424.00 at BSE.
