New Delhi: The Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) on Tuesday signed an MoU with a leading supplier of hydrogen and direct methanol fuel cells for stationary and mobile hybrid power supply solutions SFC Energy AG and FC TecNrgy Pvt Ltd (FCTec).

The letter of intent forms the framework for the current and future cooperation between the three companies. The partners aim to address the rapidly developing market for off-grid, low-emission power supplies for Indian homeland security and disaster control, defense and a number of other applications. The declaration of intent aims to combine BEL's strengths in engineering and mass production with the outstanding fuel cell expertise of SFC and the system integration and installation know-how of FCTec. The partner network is aiming for local sales of EUR 50 to 100 million by 2025, SFC Energy mentioned.

BEL is a multi-product, multi-technology company with nine production sites across India, primarily a manufacturer of advanced electronic components for aerospace applications, and broad access to the Indian government market. The combination of BEL's specialist knowledge with SFC Energy's many years of know-how in the field of sustainable fuel cell technology is intended to address the growing need for sustainable energy in India.

“Fuel cells are a sustainable and environmentally friendly technology for generating electricity.
