BSE Chairman Pramod Agrawal resigns
New Delhi: Pramod Agrawal, BSE Chairman and Public Interest Director has resigned from his position effective November 8, 2024. Pramod Agrawal who has served in Coal India as the chairman quit the position suddenly, However according to the official release and bse filling it is mentioned that the reason behind his resignation is a new assignment, he was appointed as an additional director at Tata Steel on five years term basis.

In his resignation letter, Agrawal said that he quit his position as BSE Chairperson with immediate effect due to to potential conflict with a new assignment that he has gotten. He also mentioned no other material reason for his resignation. Currently, he is appointed as an additional director at Tata Steel on a five-year term basis.
Back in January 2024, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) gave its nod for the appointment of former Coal India chief Pramod Agrawal as the chairman of the BSE.

Mr. Pramod Agrawal is a well-known face as he was the former Chairman and Managing Director (‘CMD’) of India's Largest Coal producer Public sector undertaking Coal India Limited. He has served as Joint Secretary in the Department of Disinvestment, Ministry of Finance, Government of India. He has about three decades of administrative experience as an IAS Officer in varied fields at State as well as Central level. Mr. Agarwal has worked as Principal Secretary in Government of Madhya Pradesh in different departments directly linked with public welfare. He served as CMD of Madhya Pradesh Paschim Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company Limited, CEO of Madhya Pradesh Rural Road Development Authority and District Collector, Morena & Mahasamund. Mr. Agrawal was the Chairman and Public Interest Director on the Board of Directors of BSE Limited. He is also a distinguished visiting professor at the Indian Institute of Management, Ranchi. He is currently serving as the Independent Director at Tata Steel.
Mr. Agrawal has completed B. Tech (Civil) in 1986, from IIT Mumbai and M. Tech (Design Engineering) in 1988, from IIT Delhi.
Mr. Agrawal has core competency in the field of project management, strategic alliances, tactical planning, and high-stake negotiations. He has been professionally trained in Project Appraisal and Risk Management from Duke University, Raleigh, USA, Management of Technical Cooperation Projects from ITCILO Turin, Programme on Infrastructure, Development and Financing from IIM Ahmedabad, and Infrastructure Planning and Management from IIM Bangalore, and Study on Road Management Policies and Practices from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Melbourne.
