Clarification on the privatization Bank of Maharashtra employees union writes to Finance Minister

New Delhi: Recently the government of India decides to privatize some public sector banks into private, on this the two employees union of Bank of Maharashtra writes a letter to Finance Minister Shri Nirmala Sitharaman to tale the clarification on privatizing the Pune-based lender BoM. 

The two unions, All India Bank of Maharashtra Employees Federation (AIBOMEF) and Bank of Maharashtra Officers Association (BOMOA). 

Currently, the Bank of Maharashtra is consisting of the branches around 1,832 which are spread over 28 states and six Union Territories, out of which 1,044 branches are in rural and semi-urban areas. The bank also sponsored the Maharashtra Gramin Bank, these all the statements are mentioned in the letter. 

Some customers are withdrawing the deposits from the bank and the different branches. The union said, “We earnestly request you to please clarify the government’s position on this and give assurance to the customers of the bank to end uncertainties in the minds of depositors and to arrest distractions in the business of the bank.”
