New Delhi: After extensive consultations with the stakeholders and based on satisfactory Flight trials and mitigation measures taken by operators, Deoghar Airport has been granted special approval for Visual Flight Rules VFR operations by the directorate general of civil aviation.

AAI being the Air Navigation Service Provider and airport Operator and Stakeholders including scheduled operators were engaged for comprehensive evaluation which included a Safety Risk Assessment and mitigation process.

The special VFR operations are being introduced for the first time for Commercial flights and mark a paradigm shift which will address delays/cancellation of flights on account of low visibility and will pave the way for enhancing connectivity for other such smaller airfields.
