Indian Railways decides to restore catering services
Zonal Railways will verify on order mentioning the catering charges, which will be realized based on services provided.
New Delhi: The Indian Railways cleared its step towards the restoration of passengers' catering services which will be now served to every passenger in premium trains including, Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duronto, Vande Bharat, Tejas, and Gatiman Express trains.
Following this, an order has been issued to all the departments and stakeholders, which states the matter has been examined and it has been decided to resume cooking foods in trains.
“In view of this resurgence of rail travel and easing of Covid lockdown restrictions in eateries, restaurants, hotels and such other places across the country, it has been decided that service of cooked food be resumed and RTEs may also continue. Further, prepaid catering services with opt-out option would be restored on premium trains," reads an earlier notification to IRCTC, accessed by CNN-News18.
Further, Zonal Railways will verify on order mentioning the catering charges, which will be realized based on services provided. However, currently, it will be applicable for only the Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duronto, Vande Bharat, Tejas, and Gatiman category of trains.
