HAL former chairman suggests revisiting the practice of awarding works to highest bidder

New Delhi: Dr. R.K. Tyagi, Former Chairman, HAL and Pawan Hans and Presently the Independent Director, Air India Ltd has said that at present a lot of opportunities exist in the Aviation sector to develop India as a MRO Hub. He highlighted that for becoming Aviation Hub under the umbrella of " Atma Nirbhar Abhiyan" (Self Reliant) of Government will be the right strategy. He did mention that this particular segment has already found prime place in the Finance Minister’s Revival Program for Aviation and Tourism sector announced recently; as such planners need to take corrective action to make it a reality as this will give a real boost to the aviation sector in the country.

DrTyagi was addressing a Webinar on the issues concerning Aviation Sector, titled " New Initiatives to Rejuvenate Aviation on June 17, organized by the Foundation for Aviation and Sustainable Tourism (FAST) which was attended by more than 100 participants from across the globe.
 
DrTyagi also supported the idea to revisit the practice of awarding work to Highest Bidder to achieve the overall greater results. He suggested this for developmental projects in general MROs and Airport Privatization in particular. The focus shall be on key achievements rather than on financials alone.
 
Lt General (Retd.) K.M. Seth, AVSM, PVSM President, FAST and former Governor Tripura and Chhattisgarh States, Shri V.P. Agrawal, Former Chairman, AAI and Vice President, FAST,Shri V. Somasundram, Former Member (ANS), AAI, were the other key speakers while Shri Inderjit Singh, ICAO Airport Consultant and Former Airport Director, IGIA moderated the Webinar.
