Praveen Kulkarni, a Commander in the Indian Navy, has been recommended as the next Director (Operations) of Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL), a Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) under the Ministry of Defence.

NEW DELHI- Praveen Kulkarni, a Commander in the Indian Navy, has been recommended as the next Director (Operations) of Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL), a Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) under the Ministry of Defence. The recommendation was made by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on March 15, and his appointment will be subject to approval by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC). Currently, the position is being held by GSL's CMD Brajesh Kumar Upadhyay in an additional capacity.
Kulkarni was selected from a pool of eight candidates who were interviewed by the PESB panel. Among them were two candidates from the Indian Navy, two from GSL, two from the Shipping Corporation of India (SCI), and one each from Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDSL) and Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL).
As Director (Operations) of GSL, Kulkarni will be a member of the Board of Directors and will report to the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD). His responsibilities will include overseeing all shipbuilding operations, achieving the objectives of shipyard modernization, addressing export-related issues, managing industrial relations, and negotiating with unions.
