IndianOil SRPL Conducted an Awareness Campaign for Women

 

Chennai: IndianOil’s Southern Region Pipelines (SRPL) conducted an awareness campaign for menstrual hygiene of women in 12 Anganwadis or rural child care centres in Trichy during Swachhta Pakhwada observed from 1 July - 15 July, 2019.
 
During the campaign about 500 mothers of young children were sensitised on the best practices during menstruation, through the Society for Community Organisations and People's Education (SCOPE), a Trichy based non-government organisation.
 
Experts like Dr. Uma Velmurugan, eminent Gynaecologist from Apollo Hospitals, Trichy, Dr. K Meena, former Vice Chancellor of Bharathidasan University, Trichy and Ms. Parimala, Child Development Project Officer provided inputs through health talk to the participant women during the launch of the programme at Chinna Suriyur Anganwadi Centre, Trichy. Dr. Meena released a pamphlet on nutrition and menstrual hygiene management during the programme. Shri S S Chourasia, DGM (Const.) SRPL, Trichy distributed hygiene kits.
 
Women were educated about the importance of personal hygiene, usage and disposal of sanitary napkins and solid waste management at homes to keep the surroundings neat and clean. The participants were provided with 1000 blue and green dustbins used to segregate two different kinds of wastes, the green is meant for wet wastes while the blue one is for dry waste. Additionally, an awareness session on nutrition and food intake for children as well as women was conducted during the programme.
