Chennai: Mr. S M Vaidya, Chairman, Indian Oil, visited the World Chess Olympiad venue at Chennai yesterday and made the first move for Norwegian Grandmaster Magnus Carlsen.

Sharing his experience, Mr. Vaidya remarked: "It was absolutely awesome making the first move for a Champion like Magnus. Icons like him are an inspiration and I am sure his presence would inspire many budding chess talents in India.

Thank you All India Chess Federation for inviting me to Chennai, the Mecca of Indian Chess, where I could rub shoulders with chess icons like Viswanathan 'Vishy' Anand. Even moved a few pieces during a friendly game. Lots of fun! My best wishes to all the participants at Chess Olympiad".
