MDL signs 7 MoUs with Foreign and Domestic Firms
New Delhi: Hon’ble Raksha Mantri, Shri Rajnath Singh and Hon’ble Chief Minister of UP, Shri Yogi Adityanath together launched the two Artificial Intelligence (AI) enabled products produced by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd (MDL) at DefExpo 2020 today. Both AI products namely Radiography Testing and Ultrasound Testing are developed by MDL in collaboration with IIT Madras and Dhvani Research.
These products have been developed for improved quality assurance of welds with less time & labor consumption and higher efficiency. With RT this entire process can be performed within minutes as against the conventional method which takes around 3 days to perform the same task. The second technology i.e. UT performs the quality assurance using Ultrasound in an advanced mode. The AI enabled Ultrasound Testing completely replaces the harmful conventional radiation based X-ray technique in quality assurance of welds. It uses the ultrasound sensors with an intelligent image reconstruction technology to provide high resolution, real-time digital image of the inside of the welds for automatic evaluation of the images to provide fast and accurate detection of defects.
MDL also signed seven MoUs with foreign and domestic firms. Vice Admiral Narayan Prasad Chairman and Managing Director and Rear Admiral A K Saxena Director (Shipbuilding) inked the MoUs from MDL side in the presence of Hon’ble Raksha Mantri, Shri Rajnath Singh, Hon’ble Chief Minister of UP, Shri Yogi Adityanath and Hon’ble Raksha Rajya Mantri, Shri Shripad Yesso Naik at the Inauguration Hall today.
