NLC India Ltd to contribute rs 25 crore to PM CARES fund

Neyveli:NLC India Limited, a Central Public Sector Enterprise under ministry of coal has decided to contribute Rs 25 crore to the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations (PM CARES) Fund for dealing with emergency and distress situation posed by COVID-19 pandemic in the country and to provide relief to the affected people. The company has decided to contribute twenty crores from its Corporate Social Responsibility fund andfive crores through the contribution of one day salary by the employees of NLC India Limited and its subsidiaries for this cause. 

As the generation of Electricity is an essential service,the company is operating  its power stations .However the company has taken series of measures to ensure prescribed social distancing norms and facilitated implementation of work from home optionssuch that the company manages its operation/function with barest minimum and essential employee strength in all its projects and offices functioning from Neyveli, Thoothukudi (in tamilnadu,Barsingsar (Rajasthan), Ghatampur (Uttar Pradesh), South Pachwara (Jharkhand), Talabira (Odisha) and all Solar Plants in various parts of TamilNadu,.during lockdown period.
 
NLC  has responded to the clarion callof Central and State Governments and union government in the combat operation against COVID -19 by providing support services to its township and nearby villages. NLC India Hospital has positioned itself in a ready state to meet the medical exigencies arising out of COVID-19 situation.
 
The nationwide lockdown announced by the Honorable Prime Minister for 21 days, to combat the COVID-19, is implemented in NLCIL in an effective manner. The company has made elaborate arrangementsto maintain social distancing and ensured stay at home through measures like door delivery of groceries, surveillance by security personnel andestablishment of special vegetable shops in open grounds at different parts of its township.The efforts of the management have received wideappreciation from the public and district administration as well.
