NLCIL conferred with best recognition award for WIPS
Hyderabad: NLCIL has been presented with second ‘Best Enterprise Award’ in the Navratna category for the year 2019, instituted by the Forum of Women in Public Sector (WIPS) in recognition of its commendable work done for the empowerment of women employees in the organization and for the welfare of women & children in the villages around Neyveli.
At the 30th National Convention of Forum of Women in Public Sector (WIPS) held in Hyderabad on 11th February 2020, Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan, Hon’ble Governor, Telangana presented the coveted Award to NLCIL, in the presence of Shri Atul Sobti, Director General, Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE). Shri S. Gurusamynathan, Chief General Manager, HR & PR, NLCIL along with Smt .S.Vijaya Lakshmi, DGM and Treasurer of Neyveli Chapter of WIPS, Dr.C.Dharini Mouli, ADGS and Secretary, Southern Region and also the Member of the Central Governing Body of WIPS, Smt. R.Vanaja, CM and Executive Committee Member of Southern Region, WIPS and other office bearers of Neyveli Chapter of Forum of WIPS, received the award on behalf of NLCIL.
The award, instituted by the Central APEX Forum of WIPS, functioning under the aegis of SCOPE is being presented annually to select PSUs in recognition of the commendable efforts made to harness the growth and development of women in PSUs. NLCIL won the second prize among the Navratna category of Public Sector Enterprises.
NLCIL is regularly imparting Entrepreneurship Developmental Programmes like Driving, Beautician, Tailoring, Gem & Jewelry making and other cottage industrial activities to the women from the peripheral villages through Its Women Empowerment Centre. Through this effort, NLCIL has successfully imbibed self esteem among the women beneficiaries of these development programmes, as they have learned to earn their livelihood. NLCIL is also creating avenues to the youth to start small scale industries on their own.
In addition, the Neyveli Chapter of Forum of WIPS regularly organizes programmes on education, Mental & Physical health awareness and Gender Sensitivity Awareness programmes for the rural girl children of the nearby villages. Number of public and schoo l children benefitted through these programmes.
The Neyveli Chapter of WIPS also coordinates with the NLCIL management, for the effective implementation of the company’s women empowerment programmes. These consistent efforts has contributed for NLCIL to win the prestigious award under Navratna Public Sectors category amidst many contenders.
