NEW DELHI- NTPC as an organization has been empowering the local youth near its power plants with the intent to make them self-reliant and also create employment opportunities through various skill development initiatives.
As a part of this initiative, NTPC Bongaigaon generating 750 MW has been engaging in various engaging initiatives to promote the cause and ITI Salakati wholly constructed by NTPC Limited is an example to reaffirm its cause.
Shri Karunakar Das, CGM NTPC Bongaigaon visited the ITI Salakati recently on 11th April 2023 as a part of stakeholder engagement and also to interact with the students of the institution.

The officials from NTPC Bongaigaon were welcomed by the current batch of students enrolled at the ITI, the faculty, and the Superintendent of the Institute Shri D. Mochahary.
Shri Karunakar Das, CGM NTPC Bongaigaon lauded the efforts of the students and faculty on having successfully completed skill development training and getting placed in relevant industries which demonstrates the dedication and hard work of both the students and teachers in upskilling India’s youth.
The placement records received by NTPC Bongaigaon from Superintendent, ITI Salakati look promising with 39 students placed at NTPC Bongaigaon since 2016, 3 at Railways, 6 at UPL, and 26 at Anvil Cables Pvt. Limited.

It is pertinent to mention that, NTPC Bongaigaon as a part of CSR-CD has been supporting the ITI Salakati since its inception in terms of being the official industry partner on the Institute Management Committee, setting up of the ITI by funding the construction of the building, tools & machinery required for the practical lessons by students and other miscellaneous requirements as requested by the institute’s management.
The ITI has been imparting education in various trades of fitter, electrician, and wielder.
