PDIL organized Plastic Waste Management program

Noida: A program was organized at PDIL’s Corporate Office Noida on the theme “Plastic Waste Management” as a part of “Swachhta Hi Sewa Campaign” on the Occasion of 150th birth Anniversary of the Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi on 2nd October, 2019. Hundreds of cotton cloth bags made by & marketed by Pavithara Swasahaya Sangha, Women’s Self Help Groups of Bangalore, were distributed to the Employees of PDIL and Department of Fertilizers (DOF)

 

Honble Secretary (Fertilizers) Sh Chhabilendra Roul (IAS) was the guest of honour for the program. Ms Gurveen Sidhu (IAS), Joint Secretary, Sh Lalsanglur, Economic Advisor and other senior officers of Department of Fertilizers( DoF), Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers graced the occasion. Director ( Finance), other Senior Officials and large number of PDIL Employees attended the program.

 

CMD PDIL, Sh Partha Sarthi Sen Sharma (IAS ) welcomed Honble Secretary (Fertilizers) and other dignitaries of DOF. Speaking on the Occasion , CMD PDIL stated that distribution of cloth bags will empower the women and stressed on need of plastic waste management and exhorted PDIL to develop technology for disposal of plastic and options for single use plastic. CMD thanked Govt of India for clearing simultaneous execution of 4 large scale Ammonia Urea Fertilizer Projects and expressed happiness on PDIL's record financial performance during FY 2018-19 for achieving highest ever profit after tax, highest ever turonover, highest ever dividend to Govt of India and highest ever revenue from operations.

 

In his address on the Occasion, Honble Secretary (Fertilizers) paid rich tributes to the Father of Nation on his 150th birth anniversary and described him as Man of Action. He fondly recalled the adoption of the principles of cleanliness of Gandhiji by our Honble PM Sh Narendra Modi Ji. He stressed upon the need of invention of low cost material as alternative to single use plastic , empowerment of local urban bodies & panchayats to effectively deal with the menace of plastic and the need of conversion of bio degradable material to compost for use as manure.

 

A talk cum educative presentation on the topic " Say No to Single -use Plastic" was delivered by Prof ( Dr) K K Sharma of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and “Shramddan for Swachhta” by cleaning areas in & around PDIL Office by Honble Secretary (Fertilizers), other dignitaries & officialsof DoF , PDIL CMD, other officails & employees was also done on the Occasion
