New Delhi: PM Modi ji’s call of Aatma Nirbhar Bharat has given a push to convert Covid19 challenges into opportunities. Natural gas will play a critical role in making of a self-reliant India & also in meeting the growing energy demands as well as reducing the country’s carbon intensity.

With a view to enhance the availability of natural gas at an affordable cost across the country and provide a level playing field to all the stakeholders in the natural gas value chain, we have already established a national gas trading exchange last month.

As natural gas is an important feedstock to many industries, efforts are being made towards rationalizing gas transportation cost, bringing natural gas under the ambit of GST.

And also, creating multiple points of entry through LNG terminals on both east and west coast to make gas available at an affordable price to various industries.

We are also expanding gas grids to new markets in eastern and northeastern parts of the country, the tarrif rationalisation will attract investment, create new demand centres and help India progressively move towards becoming a gas-based economy with ‘One Nation and One Grid’.
