Prime Minister inaugurates 74-Km Rail Link in Chhattisgarh facilitating swift coal transportation

New Delhi: The Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated a 74-kilometer-long rail link connecting Kharsia and  Dharamjaigarh, in the Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh.

This rail link facilitates the transportation of coal from Coal India’s subsidiary SECL to the power plants located in the northern and northwest regions of the country.

Following the completion of the proposed Sardega-Pelma rail connection, this link will also permit coal supplies from Coal India's subsidiary MCL to the northern parts of India.

This rail link project, named "CERL Phase I," was built by Chhattisgarh East Rail Limited (CERL), a joint venture company of Coal India subsidiary SECL, IRCON, and the Government of Chhattisgarh. It is part of the Chhattisgarh Coal Evacuation Rail Corridor, which comprises two other projects, namely CEWRL and CERL Phase II.

Shri Amrit Lal Meena, Secretary, Govt. of India, Ministry of Coal; Shri P.M. Prasad, Chairman, Coal India; and Shri. P.S. Mishra, CMD, SECL, and other senior officials were present on the occasion.
