New Delhi: Due to the high demand of coal and electricity, Indian Railways canceled 16 mail/express and passenger trains daily to spike the coal loading. According to the Ministry of Railway's notification, there is the cancellation of nearly 670 trips of passenger trains till May 24.
Also, keeping this in head railways increased daily loading (highest ever in the past five years) to more than 400.
Recently Union Minister for Power Shri R.K Singh and Union Minister for Railways Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw discussed short-term and long-term strategies for dealing with increasing power demand.
According to the Central Electricity Authority’s (CEA)’s daily coal-stock report, 56 of 165 thermal power stations are left with 10 percent or less coal, and at least 26 have less than five percent stock left., However, the ministry of power said that the maximum all India electricity demand met touched 2,07,111 MW.
