RINL Celebrated The 71st Republic Day

Visakhapatnam: RINL, Visakhapatnam Steel Plant celebrated the 71st  Republic Day with patriotic fervor in Ukkunagaram today. Sri PK Rath, CMD, RINL-VSP  unfurled the National Flag, took the salute and inspected the guard of honor accorded by the CISF Jawans, Home Guards, school children of Ukkunagaram at the sprawling Trishna Grounds in the township.
 
Addressing a large number of employees and their family members, Sri Rath observed that the per capita consumption of steel would bound to improve with the Government’s initiatives of huge spending of Rs 100 lakh crores allocation for infrastructure in the next five years and gave thrust to projects such as Industrial Corridors, dedicated freight corridors, Bharat Mala, Sagar Mala, Smart City Mission  etc. These projects definitely help in bridging the rural-urban divide and improve transport infrastructure and steel consumption, Sri Rath added.
 
Sri Rath said that RINL on its part, is contributing it’s mite in  nation building. The expansion programme of capacity enhancement to 6.3 mtpa has been completed and production ramped up  significantly. The modernization plan to 7.3 mtpa has also been completed and the facilities are being put in operation, he added.  The slowdown in Indian Economy in 2019-20 added few challenges to the Steel Industry.  The Long Product segment suffered the most as the Construction  and Automobile Sector sustained prolonged sluggishness. However, the situation is improving. The imported Coking Coal prices are reducing and global steel prices are firming up, Sri Rath stated. He said that RINL achieved a commendable improvement of 10% in Blast Furnace productivity, 9% improvement in BF Coke Rate, tremendous improvement of 60% in Pulverized Coal Injection (PCI) in Blast Furnace etc. Sri Rath stated that RINL entered into niche market and started production of 430 MM Rounds in Steel Melt Shop-2, a first in India. Baron and CO2 grade steel were also developed successfully in the plant. RINL is also committed to enhance the production of high end value added steel in line with the vision of “Make in India” aimed to reduce imports. He said that the Forged Wheel Plant constructed at a cost of Rs 1683 crores at Rae Bareli in UP will be commissioned very shortly.
 
“100 Feet High Mast National Flag”: Sri Rath along with other Directors of RINL, hoisted the newly installed 100 Feet High Mast National Flag at front lawns of the Main Administration Building to mark the occasion. Sri KC Das, Director (Personnel), Sri VV Venugopal Rao, Director (Finance), Sri DK Mohanty, Director (Commercial), Sri KK Ghosh, Director (Projects), Sri AK Saxena, Director (Operations), Sri PJ Vijayakar, CVO, Smt Sarada Rath, President of Visteel Mahila Samti, Sri Irfan Ahmed, Commandant, CISF, witnessed the celebrations.
