NEW DELHI- South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), a flagship arm of Coal India Limited (CIL), will impart Skill Development Training to 520 youths shortlisted from the project areas.

The youths hail from Korba, Raigarh, Ambikapur, Surajpur and other districts where the coal miner operates its mines.

The SECL spokesperson said that the programme, to be funded from the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) head, would be executed through the Korba and Raipur centres of the CIPET—Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering and Technology. Of the selected candidates, 300 have already started attending the session. Of it, 220 are in Korba and 80 in Raipur.

The six months course will be free of cost for the youths, the spokesperson said, adding that the skill development programme has been launched for the unemployed youths. The SECL will bear the entire cost of training and accommodation.

Earlier, a pilot project was launched for the youths in the Raipur centre of CIPET, the institute under the ministry of chemical and fertilizer that has been imparting skill development courses in different trades.  All the 40 students were placed on successful completion of the course.
