Shri Amit Shah presided over the ground breaking ceremony

Shimla: Hon’ble Union Minister of Home Affairs, Shri Amit Shah presided over the Ground Breaking ceremony for 210 MW Luhri Stage – I HEP & 66 MW Dhaulasidh HEP at Shimla in the benign presence of Hon’ble Governor of Himachal Pradesh Sh. Bandaru Dattatraya & Hon’ble Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Shri Jai Ram Thakur. On this occasion Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Finance Sh. Anurag Thakur, Hon’ble Member of Rajya Sabha, Sh. J.P. Nadda, Hon’ble Education Minister, Govt. of Himachal Pradesh Sh. Suresh Bhardwaj, Hon’ble Industries Minister, Govt. of Himachal Pradesh Sh. Bikram Singh were also present along with other dignitaries. The Government of Himachal Pradesh organized the First Ground Breaking Ceremony as a part of Rising Himachal Global Summit for fast-tracking the implementation of MoUs worth 10,000 crores signed during the summit.
 
Chairman & Managing Director, SJVN Limited, Sh. Nand Lal Sharma, while explaining the models of projects to the Hon’ble Union Minister of Home Affairs apprised that the projects will contribute significantly towards overall growth of the entire state. The 210 MW Luhri Stage – I HEP is located on river Satluj in Kullu & Shimla districts, while 66 MW Dhaulasidh HEP is located on river Beas in Hamirpur & Kangra districts.
On completion 210 MW Luhri Stage – I HEP will generate 758 Million Units of electricity annually while 66 MW Dhaulasidh HEP will have the potential to generate 247 Million Units of electricity annually. The construction of these two projects will bring in an investment of around 2400 crores and will generate employment for nearly 3500 persons.
 
Hon’ble Union Minister of Home Affairs appreciated the contribution of SJVN in Indian Power Sector and development of Himachal Pradesh.
Sh. Sharma further said that during Rising Himachal Global Summit, SJVN signed MoUs for eight hydro projects. These projects are located in Satluj, Beas and Chenab river basins in Himachal Pradesh. The development of these projects will usher in an investment of 24000 crores and will also result in employment opportunity for 11950 persons.
 
SJVN has also forayed into the fields of Renewable Energy, Power Transmission and Thermal. SJVN has envisaged Internal Growth Targets and is vigorously marching forward for achieving installed capacity of 5000 MW by 2023, 12000 MW by 2030 and 25000 MW by year 2040.
