Shri Binoy Kumar Secretary Steel visited VSP
Visakhapatnam: Shri Binoy Kumar, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of Steel, visited to RINL-Visakhapatnam Steel Plant recently on 26th April 2019. He was accompanied by Ms. Ruchika Chaudhry Govil, Joint Secretary, MOS, Shri Neeraj Agrawal, Director, MOS and Shri SK Singh, Under Secretary, MoS.
The high level team visited major production units including expansion & modernization like Coke Ovens, Blast Furnace, Steel Melt Shop and Rolling Mills etc. They were apprised of the latest technological know-how incorporated in the plant during expansion and modernization. The Steel Secretary witnessed a Corporate Presentation of RINL in which Shri PK Rath, CMD highlighted the achievements, targets and the focus areas of current financial year. Later they reviewed the performance of the Company.
The Steel Secretary commended RINL for registering an all-round performance and growth in all areas of its operations and highest sales turn over of Rs 20,844 crores during 2018-19. RINL collective have the potentiality and capability to deliver in times of crisis and difficulties, he added. He advised the management to focus and put their best efforts for reduction of carbon emissions and cost reduction of production. He also advised for maximum usage of government-e portal (GeM) for competitive procurement.
Later, the Steel Secretary and his team interacted with the representatives of Steel Executive Association, trade unions, SC & ST, OBC Associations and WIPS. He observed that RINL is an eco-friendly and beautiful plant in the country and the employees are highly potential. He exhorted them to work with dedication and commitment to scale up the operations, ramping up of production from the expanded units to reach newer heights in the Steel Industry.
