Sumita Bhattacharya of SAIL, RSP bags ISA’s ‘Wings of Steel’ award
It is worth mentioning here that the ISA Gender Diversity Award is given to women for excelling in the tough terrains of the steel industry.

New Delhi: Ms. Sumita Bhattacharya, General Manager (Communication Engineering) of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant has bagged the Indian Steel Association (ISA)’s ‘Wings of Steel’ award under the Gender and Diversity category.
In a glittering function of the Indian Steel Conclave held at New Delhi on 7th November 2023, Mr. Nagendra Nath Sinha, Union Steel Secretary presented the award to Ms Bhattacharya in the presence of Mr. Amarendu Prakash, Chairman SAIL, and other dignitaries.
It is worth mentioning here that the ISA Gender Diversity Award is given to women for excelling in the tough terrains of the steel industry.
An MTech in Electronics Engineering, Ms. Bhattacharya is in charge of the entire communication network, spread over the Steel Plant and the Township. Her areas of operations include Maintenance of Captive Telephone exchanges, Railway Signalling network inside RSP Yards, VHF wireless network, Loudspeaker Communication system, Provision of mobile and ILL services, Road safety Audio alarm and blinker Systems, Audio Visual setups in various strategic locations, etc.

Mr. Atanu Bhowmick, Director In-Charge, Rourkela Steel Plant and Bokaro Steel Plant has congratulated Ms. Bhattacharya on winning the coveted award and said that RSP believes in providing equal opportunities to women in every respect so that they can excel and be examples for others.
