Twin Ladle Heating Furnace inaugurated in VSP

New Delhi: Sri PK Rath, CMD, RINL-VSP  inaugurated   the Project ‘Twin Ladle Heating Furnace’ (TLHF) in Steel Melt Shop-2 today. It was built at a cost of Rs.109 Crores in the existing Steel Melt Shop-2 area of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.
 
While congratulating the Projects Wing, SMS-2 collective and agencies involved in the achievement, Sri P.K. Rath said the commissioning of Twin LHF would enhance the production capabilities of RINL.
 
Sri K C Das, Director (Personnel), Sri DK Mohanty, Director (Commercial),Sri K  K Ghosh, Director (Projects),  Sri A K Saxena, Director (Operations), Sri R Nagarajan, ED(Projects) I/C, Sri KV Vidyasagar, ED(Works) I/c, senior officials and representatives of unions, SEA, SC&ST, OBC Association present on the occasion.
 
The new facility is installed to cater to the enhanced liquid steel production after expansion to 7.3 Mtpa from 6.3 Mtpa phase. TLHF is envisaged to strengthen the secondary metallurgy section of Steel Melt Shop-2, i.e., to increase the temperature of the molten steel and adjustment of the chemical composition to optimize the process route. Commissioning of TLHF will benefit in production of high Value Added Steel(VAS) products. The Twin LHF has the capacity to process 40 heats per day from both the Heating Furnaces.
