Adani Group Set to Announce Rs 20000 Crore Investment in North East at Rising

Adani Group is expected to unveil a major investment plan worth Rs 20000 crore in the North East region of India during the Rising Northeast Investors Summit scheduled for Friday and Saturday in New Delhi. The summit will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

According to sources, the Adani Group will announce significant investments across key sectors including thermal power, green energy, and power transmission. The group plans to set up a 3200 MW thermal power plant in Assam and expand its presence in renewable energy infrastructure. Discussions are also underway regarding the possibility of establishing nuclear power projects in the region.

The Rising Northeast Investors Summit is aimed at positioning the North East as a hub of opportunity, bringing together policymakers, investors, and industry leaders. Business tycoons such as Mukesh Ambani are expected to attend. Reliance Industries is also likely to announce fresh investments through its telecom and retail arms, Reliance Jio and Reliance Retail.

Union Minister for Communications and Development of the North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya Scindia, stated that the ministry has secured investment proposals amounting to Rs 4.22 lakh crore through nine domestic roadshows, international outreach to over 75 countries, and multiple sector-specific interactions.

In February this year, the Adani, Reliance, and Tata groups had already committed major investments in Assam. Adani and Reliance pledged a combined Rs 50000 crore, while Tata announced plans to invest nearly Rs 27000 crore in the state.

This upcoming announcement further reinforces the growing interest of major industrial houses in the development and economic growth of India’s North Eastern states.
