Odisha RE Partners with Tata Power to Boost Rooftop Solar Systems
The Odisha Renewable Energy Development Agency (OREDA) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd to accelerate the adoption of rooftop solar systems under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana. The initiative aims to make solar energy more accessible and affordable for residential customers across Odisha.
The scheme, to be implemented through the state’s four power distribution companies (DISCOMs), will focus on raising public awareness and ensuring seamless execution of solar energy projects.
According to an official statement, OREDA and Tata Power Renewable Energy will collaborate with financial and banking partners to conduct targeted campaigns at high-traffic locations such as airports, shopping malls, and railway stations.

The initial rollout will concentrate on key cities, including Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri, Paradip, Berhampur, Sambalpur, Balasore, and Rourkela, before expanding across the state. The campaign is designed to engage communities and encourage the adoption of rooftop solar solutions by showcasing their accessibility and long-term benefits.
Saidutta Biplab Keshari Pradhan, the chief executive officer of OREDA, highlighted Odisha’s immense potential for solar energy generation. He stressed the importance of harnessing this resource to meet the growing energy demands of the state in an environmentally sustainable manner.
