SECL CMD Shri Harish Duhan Reviews Mega Projects, Discusses Strategy for Upcoming Fiscal Year
CMD Visits Gevra, Dipka, and Kusmunda to Assess Mining Operations
Korba, March 29, 2025 – Shri Harish Duhan, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), conducted an extensive review of SECL’s three mega projects—Gevra, Dipka, and Kusmunda. During his visit, he assessed mining activities, coal production, Overburden Removal (OBR), and coal dispatch, while also discussing strategies for the upcoming financial year with the project teams.

Inspection of Kusmunda Mega Project
Shri Duhan began his visit at the Kusmunda mega project, where he personally inspected various mining patches, reaching up to the operational mining face. He reviewed coal production, OBR, and dispatch performance in detail. Additionally, he visited the canteen facilities provided for contract workers to ensure their well-being and assess the amenities available to them.

Review at Dipka Mine
Following the Kusmunda visit, Shri Duhan proceeded to the Dipka mine. Here, he examined the mine plan and gained insights into the various operational aspects of the project. He conducted a comprehensive review of coal production, OBR, and dispatch, while also assessing the mine’s expansion plans.
Inspection of Gevra – The World's Second-Largest Coal Mine
Later in the evening, Shri Duhan arrived at Gevra, the second-largest coal mine in the world. He inspected different mining patches, closely monitoring coal production, overburden removal, and coal dispatch operations.
Focus on Special Strategy for FY 2025-26
During discussions with the project teams, CMD Shri Duhan emphasized the need for a focused strategy to achieve the coal production, OBR, and dispatch targets for the fiscal year 2025-26.
The visit was accompanied by regional general managers and senior officials from SECL.
