Chairman Coal India Limited Shri Sutirtha Bhattacharya visits NCL
New Delhi: Chairman Coal India Limited Shri Sutirtha Bhattacharya visits NCL Reviews company’s performance and flags off various new initiativesVisit of Shri.Sutirtha Bhattacharya, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Coal India Limited to NCL concluded on Wednesday. During his 2-day visit to NCL, Shri.Bhattacharya reviewed performance of the company, inspected mine and working of drones and inaugurated various new initiatives of the company.
Soon after his arrival on Tuesday evening, Shri Bhattacharya chaired a ‘Review Meeting’ with higher-ups of the company where he discussed various production and productivity related issues. He said that Coal India is committed for providing quality coal to its consumers. He also pointed out HELE (High Efficiency,Low Emission), online analyser and other technological interventions as quality enablers.
On Wednesday, Shri Bhattacharya visited Dudhichua mine of NCL and inspected working of drone. Later he inaugurated Residential Athletics Academy in Jayant which aims at promoting budding athletes.The establishment and operating cost of academy for the first year amounts to Rs.52,97,500 and in addition to providing free lodging to the athletes, expenses incurred on their regular diet, academics, sports uniforms, OPD etc are also to be borne by the company.
As one of its kind initiative, the academy aims at promoting budding athletes. 24 athletes between age group of 12-14 years were shortlisted and found suitable for 10-day intensive coaching camp. After observation of performance during the camp period, the final selection shall be made for the academy where the trainee players will be trained by athletics experts.
On this occasion, Shri Bhattacharya informed that Coal India Limited has started a 'Table Tennis Academy' in Kolkata. He also informed that CIL has contributed Rs.25 crores to National Sports Development Fund, a corpus set by Government of India for promotion of sports.He further added that 'Coal India National Hockey Academy' and Football Academy is also in the offing.
Later, Shri. Bhattacharya laid foundation stone of Kalyan Mandap in Jayant. To be built with the cost of Rs.464 lakhs, the mandap would ensure venue availability for social functions.
Equipped with 24 guest rooms, one multipurpose hall, one dining hall and an administrative building, the mandap will provide necessary facilities for organising social gathering.
Throughout his visit at NCL, Shri Bhattacharya was accompanied by Chairman-cum-Managing Director, NCL, Shri Tapas Kumar Nag, Director (Personnel), Ms.Shantilata Sahu, Director(Technical/Operations), Shri.Gunadahar Pandey, Director (Finance) Shri P.S.R.K.Sastry, Director(Technical/Project & Planning) Shri.J.L.Singh.
