DVC OBSERVES WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY
Kolkata: “Connecting People to Nature” - Keeping this theme in view World Environment Day was observed in the Headquarter and all the projects of DVC on 5th June, 2017 with traditional enthusiasm. Various environment awareness programmes were organized in the projects of DVC and about 2000 saplings were distributed amongst the villagers in different projects. At its Headquarter in Kolkata the programme started with plantation of saplings in its compound by Shri Andrew WK Langstieh, Chairman, Shri P.K.Mukhopadhyay, Member-Secretary, Shri R.P.Tripathi, Member (Technical) and Shri D.K.Verma, Chief Vigilance Officer. The sapling plantation was followed by a colourful cultural programme to create environment awareness among the employees. In his address, Chairman exhorted the employees of DVC and their family members to contribute their mite for environment protection. As thermal power generation causes immense damage to the eco-system DVC needs to be vigilant about environmental degradation. Mere plantation of saplings will not do, he said, we have to nurture them like new born babies and be careful about their survival.
