BEML Celebrates 54th Foundation Day

Bangalore: BEML LIMITED, a Public Sector Company under the Ministry of Defence celebrated its 54th Foundation Day at its headquarter and all its  Complexes and Offices across the country.
 
Shri Deepak Kumar Hota, Chairman & Managing Director, BEML was the Chief Guest, at a function held at the Corporate Office. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Hota exhorted the gathering to utilize the opportunities coming up in the infrastructure sectors, particularly Rail & Transportation, Defence, Mining & Construction. “This will help BEML to achieve greater heights in the years to come”, he added. He also lauded the employees for having achieved good financial turnover for the year 2017-18 and expressed his satisfaction in making BEML a truly Green Company.
 
The celebrations  comprised of hoisting of BEML Flag by senior most employee at the respective Complexes and Offices, address by the Chief Guests, Presidents of Employees &  Officers Associations, SC/ST Welfare Association, besides presenting various awards to employees under BEML award scheme. Cultural programmes were also organized to mark the occasion.
 
Large number of employees and executives joined the celebrations. BEML Limited (formerly Bharat Earth Movers Limited) was established in May 1964 as a Public Sector Undertaking for manufacture of Rail Coaches & Spare Parts and Mining Equipment at its Bangalore Complex. As a 'Miniratna-Category-1', it plays a pivotal role and serves India's core sectors like Defence, Rail, Power, Mining and Infrastructure. The Company started with a modest turnover of Rs. 5 Cr during 1965 and today, thanks to its diverse business portfolio, the company has been able to achieve a turnover of more than Rs.3,500 Cr. (2016 - 2017)
 
The Company operates under three major Business verticals viz., Mining & Construction, Defence and Rail & Metro. The three verticals are serviced by nine manufacturing units located at Bangalore, Kolar Gold Fields (KGF), Mysore, Palakkad and Subsidiary - Vignyan Industries Ltd, in Chikmagalur District.
