PSU PRESS RELEASE
SAIL to augment water supply in new BSP units
BHILAI. The Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) would carry out augmentation of ‘Makeup water’ and drinking water systems for all new units of its ongoing 7.0 MT modernisation programme at the Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP).
Technically, the ‘Makeup water system’ replaces water in a system where the same had been lost by evaporation in a boiler or any other plant such as a cooling tower, officials informed.
The Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) under its proposed Environment Management Programme under its ongoing modernisation and expansion exercise has plans of recycling treated township sewerage for industrial use.
It will also carry out continuous monitoring of ‘Total Organic Compounds’ at the outlet of the effluent treatment plant, officials informed.
The industrial waste water is already being properly collected and treated, they stated. Notably, the expansion and modernisation of BSP is underway to take its steel manufacturing capacity from 4 MTPA to 7 MTPA.
