Shri BV Rama Gopal Director Refineries IOCL flags-off SAKSHAM-2019
New Delhi: Shri BV Rama Gopal, Director (Refineries), IndianOil, inaugurated ‘SAKSHAM-2019’ (Sanrakshan Kshamata Mahotsav), the month-long oil & gas conservation mass awareness campaign, at Refineries Headquarters in New Delhi on 16th December 2018. He administered the 'SAKSHAM' pledge and later in his address to the functional heads and senior members of Team RHQ, urged IOCians to cultivate conservation of energy as a habit in daily life. Shri Rama Gopal also shared that the demand for energy and petroleum products will continue to rise to fuel India's sustained growth. The mandate by the Govt. of India for a 10% reduction in the energy import bill by the year 2022, makes it imperative to conserve petroleum products using innovation, technology and harnessing alternative energy sources.
Shri SM Vaidya, ED (Operations), RHQ, gave an overview of the global and domestic energy consumption trends. Talking of refinery operations, he underlined the need to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by maximising the use of cleaner fuels like natural gas. Earlier, Shri Kaushik Bora, ED (HSE), RHQ, shared the message of Chairman-IndianOil, Shri Sanjiv Singh with the audience.
A gamut of events have been planned during the month for IOCians and their families at Refineries HQ and refinery units, to disseminate the message of conserving oil and gas resources.
