The recognition underscores BEML’s unwavering commitment to innovation, indigenization, and operational excellence in the public sector.
The Gold Award for Future-Ready Infrastructure was conferred upon BEML for its pathbreaking work on the Vande Bharat Sleeper Trainset—India’s first indigenously developed semi-high-speed sleeper train. Capable of reaching speeds up to 180 kmph, this next-generation trainset represents a monumental leap in India’s rail infrastructure and a major milestone in the journey towards AatmaNirbhar Bharat. Designed and manufactured by BEML, the trainset combines cutting-edge technology with passenger comfort, enabling operations at speeds of up to 180 kmph. Built to global standards with crashworthy design, superior ride quality, and advanced safety features, it marks a transformative leap in overnight travel for long-distance routes.
The company also received the Gold Award for Operational Excellence for the successful development of the BRS21 Electric Rope Shovel—India’s first fully indigenized, all-electric rope shovel. This achievement sets new benchmarks in sustainable and energy-efficient mining equipment, reinforcing BEML’s leadership in advanced Make-in-India solutions for the core sector. Designed for high-performance excavation in large-scale mining operations, it offers enhanced energy efficiency, reduced carbon footprint, and lower operating costs.
The awards were received on behalf of the Chairman & Managing Director, BEML Ltd., by Shri Jitendra Kumar, General Manager & Head – International Business Division, at the awards ceremony held in New Delhi.
