Two SECL Mines Awarded at Star Rating Awards 2025
Star Rating Awards Ceremony held in Mumbai, two mines of South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) were felicitated. Hon’ble Union Minister of Coal & Mines, Shri G. Kishan Reddy, and Hon’ble Minister of State for Coal & Mines, Shri Satish Chandra Dubey, presented the awards to the winners.
New Delhi: at the Star Rating Awards Ceremony held in Mumbai, two mines of South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) were felicitated. Hon’ble Union Minister of Coal & Mines, Shri G. Kishan Reddy, and Hon’ble Minister of State for Coal & Mines, Shri Satish Chandra Dubey, presented the awards to the winners.
In the underground category, SECL’s Bangwar UG Mine was conferred with the Third Prize, while Khairaha UG Mine was honoured with the 5-Star Achiever Award. Both mines are located in the Sohagpur Area. These awards were given on the basis of performance ratings for the year 2023-24.
The event was graced by the presence of Coal Secretary, Shri Vikram Dev Dutt, and Additional Secretary, Smt. Rupinder Brar.
On behalf of SECL, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Shri Harish Duhan; Director (Technical/Operations), Shri N. Franklin Jayakumar; Shri Sanjay Singh, Sub-Area Manager (Bangwar, Amlai & Damini); and Shri B. Hari Babu, Sub-Area Manager (Khairha & Rajendra), received the awards.
The Ministry of Coal initiated the Star Rating system to promote green, safe, and sustainable mining practices through the use of technology. The Coal Controller’s Organization under the Ministry of Coal evaluates coal and lignite mines across the country based on compliance with various rules and regulations pertaining to mining operations, primarily focusing on safety, environment, resettlement and rehabilitation of project-affected families, and welfare of workers, among other parameters, to confer the Star Ratings.
